Quietest Pencil Sharpener & April Currently!

(My apologies to the owner of Classroom Friendly Supplies, Troy, for not getting this review up sooner!)

I was lucky enough to receive a FREE Quietest Pencil Sharper from Classroom Friendly Supplies to use in my classroom and review.

Here is the ultimate unboxing of my new fancy sharpener!

It takes a few minutes to learn how to use the sharpener - you have to pull the first black handle back.  That opens up the clamps inside the pencil sharpener.  Then you can easily slide the pencil in and start sharpening.  I'm just the kind of person that always has to check things out at home first, before taking it to work.

Can I just mention that I Loooooooove the red?

So far, my middle schoolers are liking the sharpener because it lives up to it's name and it's very quiet.  Sometimes they don't want everyone to look at them, so they will use the quiet sharpener to stay incognito.

Also, I can't believe that it's already APRIL.  I only have 38 days left of school.  We are an early start school, so we are finished before Memorial Day.  It's been a good year...  but like usual, I found out that I am switching subjects YET AGAIN for next year.  ::sigh::  What can you do except just accept your fate and just start preparing for it?

My advice to bloggers...  I think blogging is something that takes time to grow.  Some people are instant sensations, while others grow at a slower pace.  It not bad to be small... you don't have to have 1000's of followers.  I know that sometimes I feel stressed that I don't have a ton of people following me or buying my products, but I remind myself that I'm not blogging to have 1000 people read my posts or buy my products.  I blog for me! ;)

  1. Hi Lauren, thanks for stopping by! As for the advice.. I completely get that! I sometimes post a new product and hope for instant success like I see with some people, but I have to remember to be patient.. and wait.

Best of luck to you ;)

  2. I'm waiting to see what I'll be teaching next year as well. I'm on Spring Break right now but hopefully I'll know as soon as I get back. I hope you don't have to wait too long to find out your grade level!

  3. Stopping by from the currently linky: I am completely obsessed with Daryl as well I seem to always miss him on Talking Dead and have to search the google for old episodes. Good luck switching subjects next year, that must be rough never settling some where for long.

  5. LOL! I teach at a small school so we switch up regularly. Well, SOME of us do. :)

I'm teaching 5/6 history this year and probably going to be 6th ALL subjects next year. SO-we can naviagate CCS together even though you are middle school. Close enough right?? :)

  6. Just so you know, I have the same sharpener, and I think you are missing a step -

Before you put the pencil in, you should pull the metal part out. It's not to "check the progress of the sharpening," but to actually stop it once it's done.

    So, the actual steps -

    1. Pull the shiny metal part out
    2. Pinch the clamps and insert the pencil through the shiny metal and red holes.
    3. Put one hand on the sharpener crank and the other on top of the sharpener. Do NOT hold the pencil at all.
    4. Turn the crank until you feel it swing free.
    5. Pinch the clamp and remove the pencil.

Note: Depending on how sharp the pencil was when it went in, you may be done sharpening very quickly. You'll know because you'll feel the crank spin free.

  7. Thanks for reminding me that blogging is about me. I do get hung up on the number of people who read my blog (or the lack of them). Maybe it is a balange between my ego, my personal reflective learning and my ability to write what others want to read...

  8. It seems to me that only loads of coffee can help to cope with home assignments from school. Thus I actively use
online homework help services, so that my kids will help some time for other activities than homework.
