Product Swap with Right Down the Middle!

First off, I'll apologize profusely the wonderful Andrea at Right Down the Middle that this blog post is a little late to the Product Swap Party!  Why did I have January 14th instead of January 12th in my head?  (I'll blame the awful Saturday School that I taught yesterday!)

On to the switch!  I particpated in the Magical Product Swap hosted by Jessica Stanford.  You can find her blog here!

My switch partner was Andrea at Right Down the Middle.  You can also find her TPT Store here!

I received Andrea's fabulous "Welcome to Middle School" year end activity.  This product is designed for 8th graders, but is easily adapted to any grade level that you might want to do a "Welcome to...." theme with.  It can be "Welcome to Middle School" or "Welcome to your class"- it all works!  Since I have the elective class at my middle school, we only have our students for a semester, then we switch students.  So, I can use this product with a slight modification to "Welcome to Middle School" OR "Welcome to Middle School Electives" at the half way point.

Andrea's product contains the original directions, a grading rubic (LOVE IT!) and some student samples of work.  It's easy for students to read and straight to the point, which my students appreciate.  (I used slightly pixelated pics, so you can't ID any student faces.  And the giant knight is Bob our school mascot, he was a guest in our room the last week of the semester.)

Also, this product is very easy to adapt to a technology classroom.  When I switched to a technology elective, a lot of products are difficult to adapt to my classroom.  However, having my students create Welcome to Middle School items on the computer allows them to "show off" all the technology of what they learned throughout the semester.  It's very cool.  My students wrote poems, created Middle School brochures, used animoto to create different ways to tell other students what middle school would be like!

All in all, I HIGHLY recommend this product to you!  It's a great project as the semester is winding down and you and your students are ready for break!  It allows the kids to be creative, but still allows you control of the projects they design.
