Literature Circles

About two years ago, one of the school libraries in our district was undergoing major changes and sent out an email giving away their books.  Because I'm cheap, I knew it was a great opportunity to stock up on some books.  When I emailed the librarian, I ended up receiving ten sets of Literature Circle books!  I had always loved doing Literature Circles in my classroom and now with a larger selection of books to choose from - I would be able to commit to doing Literature Circles full time.

I gathered forms, created a lot of forms and through a lot of trial and error created a system that really worked for me and my 7th graders.  I was able to run six groups of Literature Circle in two sets of classes and I was really pleased with how everything turned out.

I've been putting my forms and information together to create a Literature Circle book that I can sell in my Teacher's Notebook and TPT Stores.  The Literature Circle guide has instructions on how to get started with Lit Circles in your classroom, forms for every Literature Circle job, cover pages for the two Literature Circle folders you should create!

It's a total of 20 pages!  I'm going to offer it for $5.00 in my TN and TPT Stores, but for the first five commenters, I'll send you the entire thing via email for FREE! :) Then, please go ahead and keep commenting because I'll choose three more commenters randomly to also win! (Please leave me your email in the comment - I hate getting stuck sometimes through google's endless + circles!)

  3. I am moving back up to 7th from 6th teaching science. I have to teach informational texts to supplement the language arts teacher...this would be a great way to do that.

  11. Hmmm...I attempted this last year, and due to my lack of organization, it failed miserably. I'm seriously considering giving it another go now that I know resources like this are floating around!

  12. I was just hired to begin teaching 7th grade ELA in less than a week and I'm lost on where to begin. I have only taught primary grades but would love to use literature circles but didn't know where to begin so hopefully I'll win or buy your resources in the next few days. Thank you for sharing your ideas and successes.
