I ended up being the PLC lead for my 7th grade Language Arts team this year... Noble, because I swore that I was going "lie low" at New Middle School this year. I'm all for PLC's - I just want to stop battling other teachers in order to get them to work correctly! Sometimes there are teachers that just throw a wrench into the works and detail a conversation or a team that's working great!
Because I'm tired (as you can tell by my post) I'll end it here with a few questions:
1. Does your school/district/team follow a PLC Model?
2. How do you like it?
3. What are the good/bad aspects that you are encountering?
Our school/district follows a PLC. We have for the last several years. If followed correctly, PLCs work and can be effective. The challenge is getting teachers to buy in to the fact that they should be looking at the students as "our students" not "my students" This is a touchy and dicey subject and there are many teachers that resist the change.
