Craaaaaaaaazy Week

This past week, simply FLEW by because I was running from one thing to the next.

Monday - I've been on the waiting list to see Dancing with the Stars "Live!" since 2007. I finally was e-mailed with ticket openings and somehow I was able to snag 4 tickets for the show. My best friend from work and my husband (who has been watching all this time with me) wanted to go. The problem - school ends at 1:30 and we had to be in line no later than 2:45. We're about an hour outside of LA and we had to speed down to Hollywood to make it in time. Long story short, we barely made it and were placed on the upper most level behind the judges. If you DVR'ed the show - my husband was very handsome in his white shirt and black vest, you can make him out behind the judges to the far top right. It was fun, but crazy to do and obviously the 1,000,000 million things I still had to do work-wise didn't get done that day.

Tuesday - Our Quarter 2 progress report grades were due. Unfortunately, I didn't have any access or information to my students previous grades. My admin wanted me to combine scores (I had only been teaching them for 10 days, not enough grading opportunities for me) of the first teacher and what the sub was doing. Worse yet, no one (including our District's Tech department) could figure out how to get them and the grading window closed at 3. My VP laughed at the idea when I joked that everyone gets A's, but we had to do something. Technology finally figured it all out at about noon and the grades closed at 3pm. I had to do some quick entering and by then, I was just over grading for that night.

Wednesday - My first Science Lab with my students - a generic microscope lab to get them used to going into the lab, using a microscope and recording their observations. It was a bit of a rush job, because I just need to get them moving in Science. Honestly, it could be better... but I'm a little unsure of the lab myself. My previous science teaching has been in 6th grade, which did not have this major lab section.

I patted myself on the back that day for taking my overflowing bucket of work home to grade. I had the whole night in front of me to grade all of MY stuff and get things moving in that direction. That all went right out the window, when my son and I walked through the door and discovered that our backyard was flooded. Our dogs (a golden and a husky) broke a water pipe while playing and our patio, surrounding gardens, grass, etc was under about 6 inches of water.
No grading was to be done in that madness!

Thursday - It was uneventful, but after the previous three days, I was unmotivated to do anything except park it on my couch and read Stephen King's 11/22/63.

I do have some classroom pictures (before/after) that I want to post tomorrow too. How was everyone else's week?
